Derek's professional path began in Tampa, Florida, where at 18 he was elected to the Hillsborough County Soil and Water Conservation District, becoming the youngest elected official in Florida at the time. After graduating from the University of Florida in 1996, named the school's Outstanding Male Graduate and inducted into the UF Hall of Fame, he launched his career at Accenture. There he advanced from Analyst to Manager, working with clients like FedEx, American Express, and Bank of America. That consulting foundation led him to Charlotte, where he joined UBS Financial Services, then spent nearly a decade as a Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley. In 2017, he founded SilverRock Wealth Partners as an independent advisory firm before stepping into his current role as Principal and Managing Director at MCM Partners in 2022.
